Metamask native application environment is required. The backend application will update in the near future.
MetaMask is a web browser extension and mobile app that allows you to manage your EVM private keys. This way, it acts as a wallet for EVM and other tokens, and allows you to interact with decentralized applications, or dapps. Unlike some other wallets, MetaMask does not hold information about you such as: email address, password, Secret Recovery Passphrase or other private keys. You retain complete control over your crypto identity.
First: Do not download MetaMask from anywhere except the official app store appropriate for your device/operating system. There are many clones of MetaMask floating around the net that are programmed to record the Secret Recovery Passphrase as soon as it is generated. To avoid falling victim to these scams, make sure you only download the official MetaMask app from your device's app store, and not from any other source.
Open the Play Store and search for "MetaMask". The official MetaMask app looks like the screenshot below. Be EXTREMELY CAREFUL that you don't accidentally install a fake MetaMask app! Find apps with over 10 million downloads.
Tap 'Install' and wait for the process to complete.
Once installed, open the app and follow the prompts to create a wallet.
Backup your Passphrase Recover Secrets somewhere safe and not online!
When you install the MetaMask extension, you'll be able to adjust each privacy setting to ensure the app is set up based on your desired privacy preferences.
To do this, simply tap the "Advanced configuration" button during the wallet setup process. Here you can enable/set up settings including:
When adding MetaMask to your browser, you may ask why you 'd have to approve an extension to “read and change all your data on the websites you visit”. Get ready, the answer is technical:
If you are still not convinced, a good way to experiment and manage your browser is to sandbox your MetaMask: create a separate browser profile so that MetaMask is only installed there. This will let you get used to MetaMask and Web3 in an environment that's separate from your existing web identity.
That said, MetaMask is safe for browsing. Welcome — you're joining over 30 million MetaMask users all over the world!
If you are using MetaMask in conjunction with Binance, we strongly recommend that you familiarize yourself with Binance's documentation on the topic. That said, there are some technical details you must understand in order to avoid losses._
Specifically, Binance is not just one platform. It's not even just one blockchain. When people talk about Binance, they may be referring to any one of the following:
Binance, the centralized cryptocurrency exchange
Its US-based equivalent, binance.us
The BNB Chain, (formerly Binance Chain) the blockchain which tracks BNB
The BNB Smart Chain, (formerly Binance Smart Chain, still referred to as BSC by most) designed to 'bring smart contract functionality to the Binance Ecosystem', tracks tokens that comply with the BEP-20 standard and is compatible with Ethereum and other EVM-compatible networks
The methods for moving assets between these different networks vary depending on what you are trying to move, where. Not all assets can be moved freely between all chains.
Recommendation: Follow Binance's instructions.
Note that if you withdraw BNB as a BEP2 token, it may not function as intended, for example, in dapps on the BNB Smart Chain. In order to access this functionality, you will need to withdraw your BNB as BEP20 tokens. Additional instructions for withdrawing here, and depositing to Binance here.
Recommendation: Follow Binance's instructions.
Additionally, we strongly recommend that you use official bridges when transferring tokens between blockchains. Additional instructions for sending to BNB Smart Chain via MetaMask here, and instructions for sending from BNB Smart Chain to a different blockchain via MetaMask here.
Have you sent funds from BSC to MetaMask, but you don't see the tokens? We have instructions for that here.
Step 1: Install Metamask wallet Before connecting Metamask wallet to Binance Smart Chain, you must have a Metamask wallet available. Currently, you can download it on Chrome and Firefox. With the phone version, users can download it on iOS and Android.
Install Metamask wallet by following these basic steps:
Step 1: Install Metamask Add-on at metamask.io Step 2: Create Metamask wallet. Step 3: Log in to Metamask wallet.
Step 2: Connect Metamask wallet to Binance Smart Chain (BSC) After logging in, the default network of the Metamask wallet will be Ethereum. You want to connect Metamask wallet to Binance Smart Chain, follow these steps:
Step 1: Select Ethereum Mainnet, then select Add network.
To connect BSC to Metamask, you can click the Add button of the Binance Smart Chain network. After that, the BNB Smart Chain network will automatically be added to the wallet.
Or to add a network manually, select Add a network manually then fill in the following information:
Network Name: BSC New
RPC URL: https://bsc-dataseed.binance.org
ChainID: 56
Symbol: BNB
Block Explorer URL: https://bscscan.com
And press the Save button.
